| Soil Phase (underground) |
-
Install a 2-inch test tee at your washer machine stack, even if not required by plumbing code.
-
When manifolding your copper risers, install a hose bibb in the outlet side of the cold-water manifold (use this hose bibb at topout phase at rear of house later, no waste.)
-
Pressure test copper fittings by turning on water meter.
-
Place a test ball or some other mechanical plug in the building drain at the cleanouts.
-
Attach a 6-foot double ended washer hose on the hose bibb at the copper manifold. Run water to flush flux out of line.
-
Screw opposite end of washer hose onto the hose thread of the
“T-Plug™”.
-
Turn on hose bibb at manifold. Water will fill soil pipe. Leave on until water overflows at vent stack (head).
-
Disconnect hose from “T-Plug™”. One way valve will not allow water to come back through.
-
Screw cap on “T-Plug™”. Test is now complete!

| Topout Phase |
Whole House Test
After installing all water piping and DWV, pressure test your water piping.
-
Place a test ball or some other mechanical plug in the building drain at the cleanouts.
-
Attach a 6-foot double ended washer hose to cold side of washer box. Run water to flush flux out of line.
-
Screw the opposite end of the washer hose to the T-Plug™.
-
Turn on washer box cold side hose bibb.
-
Fill until lowest vent overflows (single story) or cap off lowest vent of 1st story so the second story fills to the lowest vent on the second floor roof.
-
Disconnect washer hose from T-Plug™ and washer box.
-
Screw cap on T-Plug™. Test is now complete!
-
If test holds with no leaks, after inspection, apply ABS or PVC glue to hose threads, screw cap back on the T-Plug™ thereby solvent welding the cap in place. This will effectively turn the T-Plug™ into a normal raised head plug, eliminating any chance of mold at a later date.

|
Single Stack Tests
Same as above, it’s less expensive to test the entire house than multiple single stacks that have 90-degree bends. You effectively insure yourself against any mold issues at a later date by inspecting the entire house.

|
| Trim Phase |
-
Check to see if cap is glued on, if not unscrew cap on T-Plug™.
-
Apply ABS or PVC glue to hose threads of T-Plug™.
-
Screw cap back on T-Plug™ thereby solvent welding the cap in place, effectively turning the T-Plug™ into a normal raised head plug eliminating any chance of mold at a later date.
